Newsletter 29: π Why My Birthday Had 3 Cakes ..IT'S SO ODD???
Ritual Every Parent Should Try to Raise Mindful, Self-Aware Kids
Hello Joyful Souls,
This year, my birthday on 29th April was unlike any other.
I had 3 parties, 3 cakes, and 3 cuisines. At first, I thought β "Isnβt that a bit much?"
But then it hit me: this is my last birthday in my 30sβ¦ I am 39 π

Next year, Iβll be stepping into the big, bold 4οΈβ£0οΈβ£!
So why not celebrate every part of myself β the mother, the friend, the dreamer?
π The 3 Celebrations
β¨ Party 1: With my soul sisters β my girl gang aka #Behencode. So much laughter, selfies, and inside jokes.
β¨ Party 2: A sweet little celebration at home β kids, ice cream cake, and a cozy brunch ie post lunch at Paul, DLF Promenade.
β¨ Party 3: The big family get-together at Mamagoto. Laughter echoing louder than the background music.
π 3 Gifts That Touched My Heart
But beyond the food and fun, it was these 3 little gifts that made me teary-eyed:
π A handmade collage by my daughter β a visual journey of our memories
π A card from my son β filled with drawings, love, and innocent spelling errors
πΌ An LED personalized photo frame from a dear friend β now my favourite bedside companion
It reminded me: the best gifts are never expensive β theyβre expressive.
βοΈ My Birthday Ritual: Goals, Growth & Grace
Every year on my birthday, I now do one thing that completely changes the game:
I write down my goals. For ME.
Not just business goals, but personal ones. Motherhood, wellness, learning, fun.
This year, I also wrote:
β Iβll read daily β even if itβs just 2 pages
β Iβll keep playing tennis (my new love!)
β Iβll continue teaching and learning with joyβ¦β¦.
Why wait till New Year?
Birthdays are your personal new year. π
π§ Parenting Insight: Birthdays as Self-Awareness Milestones
Hereβs a parenting practice I encourage every family to adopt:
π Make birthdays more about becoming than just aging.
Instead of just parties and presents, try this with your child:
Ask them 3 questions on their birthday:
What did you learn this year?
What do you want to get better at?
Whatβs one thing you want to do before your next birthday?
Bonus idea: π¨ Create a Birthday Vision Board with drawings or magazine cut-outs β a beautiful keepsake and motivator.
π¬ Try This Today
Even if itβs not a birthday, sit with your child today and ask:
βIf you had a magic wand and one year β what would you like to do, be, or learn before your next birthday?β
Write it down together.
Frame it. Revisit it.
Youβll be surprised how deeply kids connect to this.
π A Note to You, Parent
In the rush of life, we forget to pause.
So let your own birthday be your mirror. A reset. A reminder.
β¨ Reflect.
β¨ Set a few kind goals.
β¨ Celebrate how far youβve come β not just whatβs left to do.
You deserve that moment.
Until next time, keep parenting joyfully β one moment at a time.
With gratitude and grace,
